About
Joy Pratt was born in Galway, Ireland while living abroad with her family and ultimately was raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Joy pursued a love for art by studying fine art at the School of Visual Arts - New York City and Tyler School of Art - Philadelphia where she completed her bachelor’s degree and later earned a master’s from the University of Pennsylvania. Joy now makes her home with her family not far from the Pennsylvania town where she grew up.
Joy is always excited to experiment in a variety of mediums from charcoal, watercolors, inks, or pastels yet oil painting remains Joy’s medium of choice. With a love for the outdoors, she finds she is most inspired by nature and often reflects in her work the landscapes and skies seen just out her front door or when exploring her surroundings. Joy is also greatly moved by experiencing other works of art whether it’s visual, performance, or music.
Joy’s most recent works focus on her desire to share the moments in nature that are everyday occurrences yet still feel awe-inspiring. Each painting is an experiment with color and technique to capture a mood or a feeling of the most bold to the most subtle beauty of our natural surroundings. Joy wishes to continue to grow as an artist and to create and share work that is both meaningful and beautiful.
